I am a Junior High and Senior High school nurse. I also service two private schools. One is K-12 and the other is K-8.

I have been a registered nurse for 30 years. I earned my Master's Degree in nursing education from IUP in 2016 and will be pursing my FNP beginning in 2019. I welcome any students who are willing and eager to learn about nursing and what the profession has to offer.

Dermatology Nurse Practitioner

I am the nurse and operations manager of a pediatric ambulatory infusion center and sedation services. I also manage sedation services at our other hospital location in Youngstown.

My role is responsible to manage the day to day operations of a unit that services about 5,000 pediatric patients per year. I also oversee all professional and technical billing, manage a staff of 25, manage separate budgets for all 3 service lines, participate on a national level in a pediatric sedation consortium and am eagerly building the infusion services offered in our center.

• Coordinated care efforts with physicians and support staff for the highest acuity cardiac and lung patients, specializing in heart and lung transplant surgeries. • Monitoring and recording vital signs, EKGs, ventilation, pain, levels of consciousness, symptoms, and changes in the patient’s condition. Administer medications as determined by patient’s condition. • Assist physicians in bedside tracheostomies, bronchoscopies, chest-tube and pericardial drains, epidurals, thoracentesis, and open-chest CPR. • Provide extensive post-operative wound care- including prophylaxis, identification, and treatment care for surgical wounds the highest progression of pressure injuries, abscesses, and ulcerations. Performed debridement of wounds, identification of infection, and determination of optimal wound treatment modalities. • Provide holistic patient education to elevate quality and consistency of care, boost patient self management, improve patient satisfaction and outcomes, and ensure proper quality of life conversations with each patient as an individual.

I currently work as a certified diabetes care and education specialist and diabetes nurse practitioner for Coplin Health Systems, which is a FQHC. I see patients in Parkersburg and Elizabeth.

Injury prevention under the umbrella of the Trauma Program. I am happy to precept students in the community health practicum of BSN programs. I have done this for Frostburg University, and Suny Delhi. Students get a variety of learning experiences in teaching across the spectrum of ages all about injury prevention topics from car seat education to falls prevention. Much of what I currently do is virtual education. Falls prevention, child passenger safety are my top areas of education. I also do bike safety and other injury prevention education as requested throughout the year and in person following social distancing guidelines.

Students must complete required Meritus Health student paperwork and a school affiliation agreement must be on file. Students always report learning lots and having an enjoyable experience during their practicum time. I am also available to offer guidance via WebEx and Zoom.
