House Bill 27:  An Act amending the act of July 19, 1979 (P.L.130, No.48), known as the Health Care Facilities Act, in licensing of health care facilities, providing for surgical smoke evacuation systems.

"Surgical smoke is dangerous because it contains toxic gases, carcinogens, and potentially infectious particles that can cause respiratory irritation, chronic health issues, and even cancer. It can lead to acute symptoms like headaches, eye irritation, and coughing, and its long-term health effects are a significant concern. The risk is often compared to the health effects of smoking cigarettes due to the concentration of harmful substances.

Please write to your senator, congressman/congresswoman, and/or representative to help get this bill passed for not only our health and safety, but the health and safety of our patients!
