Tracey Kunkel RN, MSN, CNOR Clinical Nurse Education Specialist
President
Hi, I'm Tracey Kunkel and I have been a registered nurse for 31 years. Although I also worked on L&D, Med-surg, and the Neonatal ICU/nursery, I have primarily been a perioperative nurse (for over 25 years). I served on active duty in the US Navy for 21 years and retired from the Navy. I have held a variety of jobs including nurse educator, charge nurse, team leader, clinical coordinator, division officer, and department head. I received her master's degree in nursing education from Waynesburg University. I am currently a Perioperative Clinical Education Specialist at Allegheny General Hospital. AORN has been an important piece of my profession for my entire career as an Operating Room Nurse and we would love to see all perioperative nurses involved.
Past president
Valerie Komoroski MSN, RN, CNOR, CNIV
President-Elect
Welcome to the Pittsburgh Chapter of AORN! I have been a nurse for over 20 years, all of them in the OR. That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do! I was told in nursing school that I would never be able to get a job in the OR without first having experience. I was determined, and after graduating from CCAC nursing school I began my career at Presbyterian Hospital in the OR. Saving limbs and lives we used to say! Two years later I earned my BSN from Carlow College, and three years ago I earned my MSN in Leadership and Education from Carlow University. I currently work at West Penn Hospital as the Clinical Coordinator for Quality, Compliance, and General Surgery. I believe that coming together in a professional organization such as AORN fosters a sense of commitment to excellence, strengthens professional bonds, and allows for a safe place to ‘talk shop’. Not many people, including other nurses, understand what we do on a daily basis. AORN brings us together so that others may have a safe, surgical outcome.
Vice President
Rachelle Williams MSN, RN, CNOR

My goal through AORN is to help strengthen the knowledge of the perioperative nurse through education and networking, and expanding the influence of perioperative nurses through the association to increase patient safety for better health outcomes.
